So, who exactly are you guys?
I first met Jake and Sarah in my first semester at Oregon State University. We were all in the mechanical engineering major, and right from the start, I felt a special connection to them. Maybe we were all just forced to learn things we didn't really care about because our parents would disown us if we didn't have a degree in something 'serious.' Or maybe it was just our strange sense of humor—we were all struggling, barely figuring out how to survive on coffee, half-asleep, and wondering if any of this even mattered. The lecturers couldn't keep up with our ADHD, our sophistication, and our constant lateness, and, as a result, the grades reflected that.
Then, COVID-19 hit, and like every other college in the state, we were sent home to learn online. One night, we were all on Zoom, cramming for a test, when the conversation shifted from lectures to life. It hit us: we’d always wanted to do something bigger, something that actually mattered. We were tired of the grind and knew we didn’t want to follow a path we weren’t passionate about. That’s when Jake, the brilliant one, casually brought up the idea of starting a business to make the world better. We were all shocked at first—he always had big ideas, but this felt different. And that was just the beginning.

We believe creating a better world for those in need is a responsibility we all share.
We created this business with the simple belief that doing good creates more good. Every purchase you make helps fund vital causes like breast cancer awareness, mental health, and clean water for those who need it most. It’s not just about selling products—it’s about creating a ripple of kindness and positive change. We partner with trusted organizations to make sure a portion of every sale directly supports these important causes. By shopping with us, you're not just getting something great for yourself, you're helping to make the world a better place, one step at a time.

"Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days." (Ecclesiastes 11:1)
Good karma is the belief that our positive actions, no matter how small, have a ripple effect on the world around us, eventually returning to us in kind. It reflects the idea that by doing good, we create a cycle of kindness, generosity, and growth. We chose the name "Light and Karma" because it embodies the balance of bringing light into the world through good deeds, knowing that the energy we put out will come back to us in ways that can change lives.
What actually happens when I make a purchase?

We are dedicated to eco-friendly and regenerative materials.
We are dedicated to making our products from ethical and sustainable resources. We choose to use organic, responsible, and recycled materials.
We use a cork material for our bracelets that is a PETA approved plant based vegan alternative to leather.
This cork is sustainably harvested using the bark of the tree and doesn’t cause any harm to the tree. Harvesting the bark from the tree enhances its natural ability to absorb carbon dioxide by 3 to 5 times, reducing carbon emissions.

Engaging and supporting local communities.
Big problems require locals solutions and problems don’t get solved unless you engage the local community. We make it a priority to make sure people in the local communities are empowered to provide solutions.
We saw this first hand when we traveled to Sierra Leone, Africa to provide people access to clean water. We saw hundreds of broken water wells that were
non functional and incapable of repair. This is caused by many NGOs and charities coming in to these countries and building water wells from materials that aren’t sourced from in the country and providing no training any local people on how fix the water wells.
We knew this problem required a different approach. After a year of planning and research, we employed a local team in Sierra Leone, Africa who are all from the area where the water wells are being built. They have all grown up there and know the people and the problems they face. Each water well is built with local materials, so if something breaks it’s easy to fix and doesn’t cost them thousands of dollars to import a part from another country.
But don’t take our word for it, watch it below.
